Route visitors with targeting and A/B rotation

Targeting changes a short link’s destination according to a visitor characteristic. Rotation splits visits across alternative destinations. These controls require the relevant plan access.

Which targeting options are available?

The current editor lists continent, country, city, device type, operating system, browser, browser language, and Rotation & A/B Testing. Use the option offered in your account and keep a normal destination as the fallback where the editor permits it.

How do I add targeting?

  1. Open the short-link editor and expand Targeting.
  2. Choose Targeting type.
  3. Use the section’s Create control to add the requested rule and a complete destination URL.
  4. Review all rules and the primary destination, then save the link.
  5. Test with the relevant device, language, or location when possible. Also test a visitor who should not match a rule.

How does rotation work?

The editor describes rotation as randomly and equally splitting visits among multiple URLs. Add the alternative destination URLs, save, and compare their results using the measurements available to you. An even random split is not a promise of identical counts in a small sample.

What are the limitations?

Location is an estimate and can be affected by VPNs or network routing. Browser language is a browser setting, not a guarantee of the visitor’s preferred language. For an A/B test, define what success means and measure the destination outcome, rather than interpreting a redirect count as a sale.
