Customize a QR code for screen or print

Customize a QR code while preserving reliable scanning. The final downloaded or printed version is what you need to test, not only the preview inside the builder.

Which design controls are available?

  • Style: the QR pattern and inner and outer eye shapes.
  • Colors: the available foreground and background color choices.
  • Frame: the frame design and any supported frame text.
  • Branding: the available logo or image options.
  • Options: additional generation controls offered by the selected template.

How should I test a design?

  1. Start with a simple, high-contrast code that scans correctly.
  2. Change one design element at a time and wait for the preview to update.
  3. Keep a clear border around the code and avoid covering its recognition corners.
  4. Download the version you will use. Test it on more than one phone if possible.
  5. For print, make a sample at the actual size and test it under the lighting and distance people will use.

Why does a logo or gradient reduce readability?

Low contrast, a busy background, or an image covering too much of the pattern can make a scanner struggle. If a code fails, return to a plain design, remove the logo temporarily, and make the printed code larger before adding decoration back.

What should I give the printer?

Supply a sharp, suitably sized export in a format the printer accepts. Avoid screenshots of a small code or heavy image compression. Keep the intended destination and a tested master file with your artwork so the correct code is used in the final layout.
